Children’s School

BBO Syllabus Classes

Children's classes are available for all age groups in BBO Syllabus classical ballet.  Exams are held approximately once a year for those students that have achieved the high standard required to pass in the Grade they are studying.

Music and Movement class for 2.5 - 4 year olds!

The nursery class in music and movement is an opportunity for your little ones to come and experience the joy of dance and music in a safe and friendly environment.  Toddlers learn to clap with the beat of the music, point their feet, and stretch their limbs.

Acrobatic Arts

Brighton Ballet School is the first in Sussex to be able to offer classes in Acrobatic Arts.  The program is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling.  Developed with input from professionals and experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, yoga, acro yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more, you will not find a more comprehensive program.  Simple thoughtful progressions take the beginner preschool level dancer from log rolls and summersaults to the advanced dancer tumbling effortlessly across the stage! Ideal for children who wish to learn tricks and flips in a safe, controlled environment.

Brighton Ballet School has an excellent examination record.  We achieve a 100% pass rate, with students consistently achieving an average of 45% Distinctions for their exams in Ballet and Tap Dance!

Children are invited to take an exam in the level/class they are studying when their teacher feels they are ready.  It is essential that students take a second class per week in the half term running up to their exam date, to prepare fully for the examination they are being entered for.  This second class is very small and only attended by their fellow exam students, and therefore is intensive but necessary preparation for the examination process.

We are now able to hold examinations in the new Acrobatic Arts syllabus that we are teaching.  Please watch this space for more information.
